The wall pieces displayed in the following galleries represent two bodies of work. And, it's Always a Gamble, are mixed media constructions using a variety of materials. The other series comprises two directions employing primarily cast bronze and cast iron. One direction the Tampa Portals are primarily cast bronze poured at my university's foundry. The second Birmingham Portals are primarily cast iron, which were poured at Sloss Foundry in Birmingham, Alabama.
And, it's Always a Gamble Series

Tampa and Birmingham Portals
The Tampa and Birmingham Portals titles derive, in part, from the location where the works were cast. In both series I use a bonded sand process which allows me to use actual materials, in this case cardboard an other consumable packaging materials, for my original models. I find the juxtaposition of the impermanence of cardboard and various packing tape with the permanence of bronze and iron both visual and conceptually intriguing. Both series are in continuance .
